EMDR and Trauma-informed Care: From Theory to Practice

CE Hours 3 EMDR Trauma-informed Care TIC EMDRIA

About this course

Discover how the principles of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) can enrich the practice of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This course offers an overview of the history of both TIC and EMDR while remaining faithful to Dr. Francine Shapiro’s groundbreaking eight-phase model.  You’ll learn the foundational principles of TIC and how they dovetail with Dr. Shapiro's vision of EMDR. The training will also detail how to apply TIC strategies within each phase to create a safer, more collaborative, and empowering therapeutic process for clients. In addition, the course highlights how trauma-informed principles can strengthen organizational and individual safety, prevent burnout, and foster resilience — equipping you to support healing while also sustaining yourself as a practitioner.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn the history and importance of Trauma-informed Care (TIC).
  • Understand the guiding principles of TIC
  • The history and evolution of EMDR.
